East at Easter…memories from an Iconic 80’s band.

Simple Minds
We go walking, hand in hand
All across the land it’s East At Easter
People walking hand in hand
When ships are moving south it will be East at Easter
We will rock you, rock you little child
We will rock you, rock you little child
All across the land it’s East At Easter
All across the land it’s East At Easter
Things will lighten up the sky, East At Easter
Things will lighten up the sky, East At Easter
We’ll go walking hand in hand
Cause all across the land it will be East At Easter
Ah, we will rock you, rock you little child
We will rock you, rock you little child
All across the land it’s East At Easter
When ships go moving south it will be East At Easter
They’re gonna lighten up the sky
They’re gonna lighten up the sky
They’re gonna lighten up the sky
East At Easter
Ah, we’ll go walking hand in hand
We’ll go walking hand in hand, yes
We will rock you, rock you little child
We will rock you, rock you
Rock you little child
They’re gonna lighten up the sky
When they lighten up the sky it will be East At Easter
We will rock you, rock you, rock you
Not at the moment, at least the walking hand in hand but a beautiful song nonetheless

With all good intentions I started this piece on Saturday although the allure of the warmth outside “the office” and the fur babies resulted is somewhat of a delay ( …big distraction…guilty as charged )

The week has been glorious even if we have all been under some form of isolation, honestly I can’t say I noticed a difference …other that many, many staff meetings 😊, in fact the week has been absolutely amazing , the squirrel has returned, the cows have finally emerged from their winter isolation ,just loving their return to the pastures and the resident blue tits are house-building … Jake’s fur providing the building materials…(I may have had a hand in this !)

Of course I always get called in to a late meeting every day … at the office , sometimes the staff don’t pay attention …what can you do …

And yes, Slappy is back, much to the excitement of everyone. It’s so rewarding to see all the critters having fun in the sun. The birdsong has gone up notch and is something to be truly appreciated, for those that are able to hear it.

The Stoic wisdom is still going on day-by-day, this week most memorable was this little gem. A great lesson, how much awareness do we put into our thoughts versus the value /validity of money and group thinking.

Seth has also been quite active, two posts worthy of sharing this week, albeit a late Saturday Reflection…
Something to consider in the light of all the “advice” being given regarding Covid-19
The unheard voices
Media culture and crisis collide in amplifying the voices of doom, anger and the short-run. Or perhaps empty reassurance and day-trading of emotions.
But the other voices, they matter too.
The marginalized ones who might not be invited to have a seat at the table.
The people who have a long-term view.
Folks who see and act on possibility and connection.
We hear what we focus on, and what we hear changes how we experience the world.
Megaphones don’t automatically create wisdom or even utility. They simply make some people louder.
And what better way to wrap up what has been an epic week (And Easter weekend)
You’re surrounded
We all are.
Throughout a lifetime, everyone has their troubles–someone might have stubbed a toe, or missed a car payment or be studying for an upcoming exam. Big problems and small. We each have our fear, our grief, our hassle.
The thing is, the troubles were local and unique. It was easy to walk away from our drama, at least for a moment, because someone else, everyone else, had something else they were dealing with.
For the last month, that hasn’t been true. For anyone.
You can’t avoid it, can’t walk away from it and have to work to put it in perspective, because every interaction comes with someone else amplifying the story.
But…
At the same time the echo chamber around us magnifies our story, we also have the solace of knowing that truly, it’s us.
Us together.
The boat is really, really big and we’re all in it.
This is a slog, and there will be another side. It is unevenly distributed, it’s a tragedy and it’s a challenge. But we’re in it together and with care and generosity, we can find perspective, possibility and hope.
It’s going to be cooler over the next few days but have no fear, warmer weather will return before the next weekend …not that it makes too much difference for everyone in self isolation …certainly the office will be cooler 😊

Nice selections here Daniel — and staff! lol

Good song. I like it. Nice feel to it. I agree. Going outside has been good for one’s soul. We are surrounded by problems, big and small… but we are also surrounded by glorious nature 🙂
