Blue Monday ?

Blue Monday ? Or Pop goes the Weasel ?

No I don’t really believe that but it has been a particularly tougher week. The ongoing spasms and tension in my legs/feet have made sure that sleep is limited to 3-4 hours at most. And no…I have been restricting myself to 2-3 espressos per day- mornings only !

It is rather strange but perhaps something quite simple like to low(ish) temperatures and the new weaker botox have left me with sooooo much tension in the calves that stretching or doing lower back hyperextensions is the only way to get started in the mornings. That and music …

Then today I realized I have missed …”BLUE MONDAY”. Could this be the reason ?

So what exactly is Blue Monday then ?

😊 😊 😊

One of the most recognizable tracks of the 80’s …

I see a ship in the harbor
I can and shall obey
But if it wasn’t for your misfortune
I’d be a heavenly person today
And I thought I was mistaken
And I thought I heard you speak
Tell me, how do I feel?
Tell me now, how should I feel?

So, Blue Monday

Not exactly a day that you would want to celebrate.

When is Blue Monday?
This year (2020)January 20 (Monday)
Last year (2019)January 21 (Monday)

The History of Blue Monday

The history of Blue Monday can be traced back to 2005 when Cliff Arnall released a press release that stated that January 18th was the most depressing day of the year and that this was calculated using several factors such as weather, debt and motivational levels. Mental health organization Beat Blue Monday states that this formula is [W + (D-d)] x T^Q} ÷ [M x N_a], with “W” standing for weather, “D” standing for debt, “d” standing for monthly salary, “M” for motivational levels and “Na” standing for the feeling of a need to take action. However, this equation has been debunked countless times by scientists and many people believe this holiday started off as a promotional stunt.

A marketing campaign by Sky Travel that was supposedly used to sell more travel packages in January.

Blue Monday Customs & Celebrations

Although the formula behind Blue Monday is seen as pseudo-science, some people have taken it upon themselves to claim the holiday for themselves. They have decided to treat it as an “anti-holiday.” Instead of trying to stave off the blues which accompany this time of the year, they decide to embrace the blues by listening to sad music, refusing to use happy greetings and by refusing to leave the house.

Of course, other people are taking the exact opposite method and are actually celebrating this holiday. They do so by enjoying “blue foods” such as blueberry pies or yogurt or drinking blueberry wine. They also often show movies with more upbeat themes – such as comedies.

I didn’t to any of the above ! Not by choice anyhow.

Despite the blueness doing its rounds we did have a sighting this week, a baby weasel bouncing around in the front garden. Of course great excitement for Jake and lots of fumbling and curses with me dropping the phone while trying to get a picture…too late, too quick and TOOOOO SLOW. I wont say which description should be attached to my efforts.

Besides, the internet has far more resources available.

I watched this, they are truly amazing creatures. This is the story of Twiz !

I digress !

Whether you believe it or not Blue Monday …has come and gone. The cold has made way for slightly warmer days…when we break 10 degrees we can celebrate!

Other than that very little to celebrate. Brexiteers have a week to go , The Trump Show continues, A new epidemic in one of the most concentrated Countries in the world…Fires raging in Australia….I’m Blue again !
